Will You Be Ready for the Virtual Reality Future

Thanks to the rising popularity of the OTT (Over The Top) platforms such as HULU, Prime, Netflix, and such, we live in a world with widespread technological awareness. We have each discovered Virtual worlds that have hoodwinked us and made us think about a future where it might be a possibility.

Throughout this post, we’ll try to understand the future of Virtual Reality through a set of possible scenarios and LIVE examples in the entertainment and gaming industries. Over the years, movies and tv shows have shown us their version of Virtual Reality, and most came pretty close to the promise of VR in the future.

Although it may take decades for us to master VR and turn it into a framework such as the one featured in Marvel’s TV show: The Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D, we still need to brace ourselves. This show featured a framework where the characters’ lives were rewritten.  The S.H.I.E.L.D tower was taken over by Hydra, the major antagonists.

And while we can predict the growth of VR with the current data at hand, such predictions often falter in the face of brilliant inventions and discoveries. Our job here is to prepare you for what is to come, both good and bad.

1. Virtual Simulations/Avatars Enabling Reality defying Personalities:

At the time of its launch in 2000, the sim characters weren’t represented in 3d. Four years later, after the second sim game came out, the characters were upgraded to 3D versions. On a development level, the progress was swift.

There are so many different ways and lives a person can live with this simulation game. It could even inspire people to take on new careers and try their hand at something that they would have never discovered if not for the game and the numerous opportunities it presents.  That’s beside the point. Today, you have these characters and are almost on the verge of life-changing discovery. Now, no matter how fun and creative this game is, it still doesn’t give us realistic avatars or simulations.

With Virtual Reality, we’ll be able to create strong and realistic online personalities that aren’t in the form of a cartoon character but have flesh, realistic skin tones, and a lot more. To show you what that virtual world would be like, we are sharing another example of a TV show: Altered Carbon.

One familiar with the premise of the show will know that the show focuses on how people have cheated death with the invention of a cortical stack. It is a disk that saves a person’s consciousness and memories and can be implanted at the back of the neck. These stacks are implanted in genetically engineered physical bodies that are also known as sleeves. Now, let’s not forget that it was a fantasy world and involved alien technology.

On a realistic note, we could build realistic virtual bodies with true-to-life functionality in the future. And we might all agree on one thing.  We will have no trouble acclimating to this feature.

2. A Mind that will balance out the addiction to Virtual Reality:

We just talked about how powerful a world with virtual personas can be. Now, before that technology does come along, remember that you need to train your mind to fight addiction.

Similar to gaming, it can also turn into a serious addiction that can end up compromising the quality of your life. In history, when our world was at war, we needed warriors who could fight and keep everyone safe. And while cunning and intelligence were respected, they weren’t necessarily at the forefront. It was a time for brute strength.

Today, in this digital world, that strength has shifted focus from physical to mental and emotional. We live in a world full of creators who offer us addictive products. It’s our job to draw a line and to tell ourselves when it’s enough. VR might have numerous advantages, and its scope is quite vast, but just like the internet, it could have some pitfalls as well. Be prepared to tackle this issue. We are smart enough to create this. and then we are strong enough to fight it.

3. The High Costs Of A Luxurious Virtual Life

To shed light on how expensive VR can get, we shared yet another example of how VR can facilitate life after death. The Amazon Prime show Upload follows a premise where a person on the verge of death can upload their consciousness into a digital afterlife. The choice of the afterlife is based solely on the person’s financial conditions. The rich can afford the luxurious mansion Lake View with its abundant luxuries, while others have to either settle for an affordable VR afterlife after incurring debts or choose death. Furthermore, the affordable VR afterlife features locations and places that aren’t popular and will, therefore, result in less contact with other afterlife residents. We have shared images of the affordable VR afterlife and Lake View, an afterlife for the Elite.

This might very well be our future. This gives us so much to think about.

4. From the promise of Fully Immersive Environment To an Actual VR World

From-the-promise-of-Fully-Immersive-Environment-To-an-Actual-VR-World

To put a number on it, experts believe we are at least 1-2 decades away from a realistic implementation of Virtual Reality. Although there might be a technological breakthrough in the intervening years and we might happen upon the actual VR world.

Today’s Basic VR Kit Includes:
VR Goggles: A means of connection to the VR world, to become an active participant in VR simulations and games. Most goggles have sensors that can track and transmit your movements to the virtual world.

VR Sensors: These are additional sensors that help refine movements in the VR world.

As you can see, even though we have this great technology, we are still aware that it isn’t’ real. We are aware that we are just participants. The movements we make in VR aren’t as fluid as ours are in reality. So, even though we are experiencing VR, there is still a disconnect. Like we have said before, we have at least a decade or two to bridge that gap between that disconnect and an actual VR world.

How long will it take for this VR Future to become Reality?

From simulations to the cost of the VR, the hard battle between mind and VR addiction, and finally the rise of actual VR, all of these are 10-20 years away. We already live in a digitally prominent world, and it won’t be long before it has taken over our entire lives. Today the majority of jobs require a person to have a working knowledge of computers, which is one of the most necessary devices of the century. These were just a few things that need to be addressed. VR has so much more in store for us. We need to contribute to tit’s growth, prepare for it, and wait.
